I went to LA Fitness and one of the girls- Club staff asked or offered to sponsor me.. What does that mean? I didn't ask her because I just stopped by to asked about their membership. I got home and I thought about what she was telling me, I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what that means.. I hope it's not a scam just to get me in..
Thanks so much! Any comments would be greatly appreciated. :-))What does LA Fitness mean when they offered to sponsor you? When someone or a group of people sponsors you, it means that they help you out. Almost always it means financially. So if I had a Nike sponsorship, they'd give me free clothes and shoes and they would want me to win my race or whatever. It's like a mutual growth kind of. The LA Fitness sponsorship thing might be a scam if you're not competitive at all, because usually groups only sponsor highly competitive and successful individuals. What does LA Fitness mean when they offered to sponsor you?Your scam alarm is working well, I think.
The word "sponsor" can be used in ways that are not fully honest.
It also can be used very reasonably.
In some clubs it is necessary to have an existing member invite a person to join. That might be the meaning of the word "sponsor" in this case. If that is the meaning, the word "sponsor" is being used to make it seem like LA Fitness is an exclusive club, which I think it is not.
It also is possible that the person might be able to be your official "sponsor", and thereby get you a discounted price. It might merely be a sort of sales gimmick. You'll have to ask to find out for sure. It might be necessary to declare your "sponsor' at the time you sign up in order to get a discount - if that is the meaning of "sponsor."
