What is wrong with my motion detector light?

My motion detector suddenly quit coming on at night. I saw that there is power, I hit the test button and it lit. Does anyone know what it might be?What is wrong with my motion detector light?Try cleaning the sensor.What is wrong with my motion detector light?have you tried cleaning off the sensor?some times the sensor get dirty and wont pick up motion.all so make sure the position of the sensor hasn't changed .if it dropped down, or tilted.that could interfere with the sensors, ability to do it,s job.i,m assuming it,s the type that has one or two lights above a sensor that can be set in many different positions.What is wrong with my motion detector light?The sensors are generally very cheaply made and last only a few years due to moisture getting in them. Look closely at it in the daylight. If the lens is cloudy or has moisture beads in it it is shot. Time to get a new one.What is wrong with my motion detector light?
I'm guessing your fixture has both a photo cell (sensor that tells the light to come on when it gets dark enough) and the motion sensor. Your photo cell could be out, telling the fixture that its never dark enough to come on. Or the motion sensor could be out and the photo cell still working just fine. Don't let anyone tell you that you need a whole new fixture!
