I'm 18 and did a mock PFT at home and got a score of 211. If I practice a little more, I can get the minimum of 225.
Is it just there to motivate, or does it benefit you in promotion? What else is it used as?What is the benefit of having a 1st class fitness score in the Marine Corps? It opens up possibilities with Reconnaissance, Force Reconnaissance, MARSOC, and so on. So its not just there for extra motivation, its pretty legitimate and can get your further in the Marines, which is already hard enough due to how small we are.
So keep it up man. What is the benefit of having a 1st class fitness score in the Marine Corps? The higher your PFT score is, the more points you get toward promotion too, I agree with the first poster, however there's more.If you run a high PFT, you get points for promotion (this is only relevant from E-3 to E-4, as all promotions up to E-3 are based on time) as well as it's going to help you when you get your Proficiency and Conduct marks (Pro's and Con's) every 6 months. If you can PT and shoot and be a locked on Marine, you'll pretty much do well in the Marine Corps. It's really that simple. Keep up the good work. Stay motivated, don't get jaded by the bs.
